Trip Overview 1 day

If you are new to canoeing or only have time for a short trip into beautiful Algonquin Park this is the perfect trip for you. Pack your own lunch or have us do it for you. This short, beginner trip is designed to be a no hassle way to experience an Algonquin Park canoe day trip.

This trip begins and ends at the Algonquin Park Shall Lake Access Point on the quieter east side of the park. From the access point we recommend you paddle west into Farm Lake along a scenic and easy paddle. The neat thing about this trip is the route takes you along part of the Opeongo River system. In addition to good fishing, there is plenty to see and do.

You can simply beetle around the lake, but most prefer to explore the far western side of the lake where it narrows into a slow peaceful river setting. You will find several highlights and portages to surrounding lakes if you want to extend your trip. Full details of these highlights and portages along with a map are provided in the trip plan.

Our five day Algonquin Park interior canoe trip is geared towards those looking to gain a bit more canoe tripping experience. It is recommended to have some overnight canoe camping experience and at least some basic first aid and survival skills. Whether you want to pack your own food or let us supply it for you, we provide all of the gear and planning needed to make your trip a memorable wilderness experience.

The circuit trip begins at the Algonquin Park Galeairy Lake Access Point in Whitney. This big lake takes a while to paddle and is the home to your first night. The route then continues through the southern panhandle of beautiful Algonquin Park over eight different waterbodies including the ever popular Lake Louisa and Pen Lake. Each day you will be travelling between three to five hours before setting up a new camp. En route you can test your luck for Algonquin Park trout or search the shores of the lakes for wildlife. Other highlights include Indian pictographs on Rock Lake.
